There is a battle that seems endless between traditional publishing and self-publishing, the same battle that broke out between paper books and ebooks. Writers, publishers and readers have suddenly become warmongers, when they should simply be bearers of culture. Publishing is an old system, which is based on old rules and promotes old names. Self-publishing is an innovative system, which is based on autonomy and resourcefulness and promotes new names. Where the first system stagnates, the second flourishes.
At this point I asked myself: can self-publishing modernize classic publishing? Once upon a time there was a publisher? For many modern writers, self-publishing has become a real farewell to publishing. The self-publishing market itself is growing and there are more and more independent writers, especially abroad. Is classic publishing going into decline? Will it Phone Number Data become history? I think not and for a number of reasons. Not everyone has an entrepreneurial spirit, not everyone is capable of self-publishing, not everyone loves to go on adventures. Publishing with traditional publishing remains an automatic choice for many writers, the only one available. Self-publishing, however, exists and will continue to exist.
Two roads, two goals I don't see classic publishing and self-publishing as two antagonists, but as two choices that depend on the writer's objectives. There are two paths to follow and, as I have already said, I am interested in both and I recommend trying them. Only when these two paths have been followed will we be able to say - and not even then, perhaps - which path will be right and suitable for us. Because maybe? Because the success of a publication does not depend, in my opinion, on the type of publishing you choose. For me, the choice between traditional publishing and self-publishing depends on the project I have in mind.
